Squirrel Class

A warm welcome to Squirrel Class website page from Mrs Coulter and Miss Morris.  We hope you enjoy reading about what we have been up to so far this term.

It was wonderful visiting so many of you during our home visits.  Thank you for all the balloons outside the houses and warm welcomes received.  We are so proud of how well the children have settled into class and are enjoying sharing all of their "All about me" bags as we get to know each of them

We have been learning the school rules and routines and have discussed the importance of our school golden rule: "we have kind hands, kind mouths and kind feet".  we have made a class charter with promises for how we will behave in Squirrel class.

During this half term our topic is 'Marvellous Me' and we will be having great fun sharing all about ourselves and our talents.  We will be learning to read and write our names, sharing family photos, thinking about what we look like and celebrating our special talents.

In phonics, we will begin learning the phase 2 letters and sounds.  Every other week we will learn a set of 4 new letters and the sound they made.  We learn a jolly phonics action and a song for every letter too so please ask us to show you!  We will then start exploring how to segment and blend to read and write simple words with three sounds e.g."pin", "pot" etc.  By half term the children will have sound cards, key words and reading books in their book bags sent home.  So please keep an eye out in book bags for these!
