Home visits
On the 5, 6, 7th, 8th, 9th, 12th September the class teacher and teaching assistant will visit the children at their own home.
You will be notified of the date and time of your home visit at your first sessions. The visit will be approximately 15 minutes. This is an opportunity for you and your child to get to know your child’s class teacher and teaching assistant on a 1 to 1 basis and talk to staff about any issues, little niggles or ask any questions prior to your child starting school. It also enables staff to get to know you and your child in their familiar environment.
Admission Arrangements
At Tweseldown Infant School we believe in working together to ensure a positive first experience of school. To achieve this we will introduce school gradually over the first two weeks of term. The Autumn Term starts on Monday 5th September for all other children. On Wednesday 14th and Thursday 15th September children will come to school for small group sessions. All children attend school full time from Friday 16th September. Although school is not statutory until the term after your child has turned 5, in most cases children cope very well with the transition from preschool to school. Please speak to your class teacher if you have any concerns.
Below is information about admission arrangements for your child. Please follow the relevant column.
The group your child is in, will be notified at your first session.

Parents Information Evening
In addition to these visits, we have arranged an evening meeting for parents on Tuesday 5th July at 7.30pm; this will give parents an opportunity to talk to school staff and to be informed about the school curriculum and some school procedures. We ask that children do not attend this session.
At this meeting there will also be representatives from Koosa Kids (before and after school care), Brenda’s (School uniform stockists) and Hart Child Minding Association.
Koosa Kids
This is a before and after school club for children which is located at Crookham Junior School hall on Tweseldown Road. It runs from 7.50am until 8.30am and in the afternoon from 3.05pm to 6.00pm. We suggest you register your interest now as spaces are limited on 0845 094 2322, look at their website for further information www.koosakids.co.uk. Children will be walked to and from our site via a ‘Walking Bus’. We can also signpost you to the local Hart Child-minding service, as there are specific child-minders who work at Tweseldown Infant School.
School Meals
The meals are cooked on site and all infant school children are entitled to free school meals. Children choose on a daily basis from a choice of meat or vegetarian dishes. If your child has a dietary allergy please complete the attached form and send back to the school office as soon as possible.
Tweseldown is a nut free school and whilst buying for packed lunch, please check the label to ensure no nuts are listed in the ingredients. Look out for such items as sesame seeds on buns, pine nuts in pesto sauce, Nutella spread, cereal bars. If your child brings anything into school that contains nuts, they will not be allowed to eat the product and will be given a school dinner. The class teacher will return the item to parents at the end of the day.
Cool Milk
Our school provides a milk scheme that is available to all of our pupils and we would like to invite you to register your child. School milk is free for under-5s, and for over-5s it is available at a subsidised* price of 22p per day. Please register online at www.coolmilk.com and once your child is over-5 payment can also be made one-line.
We are aware that there are a lot of questions you may have but hope that the “New Parent Information Booklet” you have already received or viewed on our website, can answer lots of questions, to ensure your child has a smooth and happy transition to our school.
If you have any concerns regarding your child’s admission to school please let us know. In the meantime, if you have any questions please contact our admin team in the school office or leave a message for us and we will call you back to discuss your individual child.
Yours sincerely
Kim Tottem
