Owl

Welcome to Year 2 and Owl Class!

Owl class thoroughly enjoyed being ‘Animal Explorers’ in our previous topic; everyone had a great day out at Marwell Zoo and discovered lots of interesting facts to share. Our next topic will be exploring the world of ‘Magical Minibeasts’. This will build on our knowledge of living things and we will learn about lifecycles. We will also investigate the importance for humans of exercise and eating the right amounts and types of food. We will continue to monitor our longitudinal study and the growth of the apple tree we planted.

In English our learning will be based upon Roald Dahl’s ‘James and the Giant Peach.’ We look forward to meeting all of the magical characters in this story. We will be learning to write a persuasive holiday leaflet for a journey on board a peach. We will also be making our own creepy crawlies in the form of papier-mâché minibeasts!

This half term we will be celebrating authors, books and stories during ‘Book Week’, where everyone will have a chance to share their favourite book character. We hope you will be able to join us for the pancake races and the spring hat parade!
