Tweseldown Infant School

Forces

At Tweseldown we value the relationships we have with the parents from our forces families. When a member of the family is deployed overseas, we support the children by giving them a Deployment Bag to borrow.

This contains a big teddy for the child to look after at home, and a small teddy who goes on adventures with the deployed parent – the children love seeing photos of the places that little ted goes to! When deployment is over, the bears and their bag are returned to school. Included in the Deployment Bag is an activity book - Sometimes, by Clare Shaw, for the child to keep. You can let us know about deployments by filling in a form, available in the school entrance, and returning it to Mrs Roz Bacchus who will then prepare a Deployment Bag for you.

We also have members of staff called ELSA’s (Emotional Literacy Support Assistant) that are trained to support children during these times. We have a weekly lunchtime club – Military Mates – that children from Years 1 and 2 can drop in to anytime. There are military vehicles to play with, books, and colouring activities.
