Deer

Welcome to Deer Class!

This half term Deer class have settled into Year 1 beautifully.  The children have been busy reading and writing about our key text this half term 'Lost and Found by Oliver Jeffers.  They have used drama to act out how the characters might have felt during the story and then thought up some great 'feelings' words to describe the personalities of boy and the penguin.  They have used drama to act out how the characters might have felt during the story and then thought up some great 'feelings' words to describe the personalities of boy and the penguin.

In Maths the children have been finding lots of different ways to represent numbers.  They used counters, drawings and even number sentences to show all the different ways they could find.  In Deer class the children have been able to write number sentences using the addition and subtraction symbols, even using equals to show the answer!

In PE the children have learnt the five basic gymnastic shapes.  They have worked independently and in small groups to make a simple sequence of movements to perform to the rest of the class.

Deer class set up their longitudinal study in Science in September.  They are investigating which month has  has the most rainfall throughout the year.  So far they have made a class rain gauge and looked at where in our outside environment would be the best place to put the gauge to measure the amount of rainfall.

We are all looking forward to our next half term's topic toys!  We will be visiting Milestones Museum to further our knowledge of old toys.
