Tweseldown Infant School

Welcome to Deer Class!

What a fantastic start back at school… a big big big well done to all children in Deer class! Miss Riley and Mrs Tomlinson have been blown away by your resilience and how quickly you settled back in to school routines. Being back together really has been fantastic and already we have had so much fun in the classroom! Here’s a reminder of our class rules that Deer class children chose:

Remember to:

*respect others

*listen to others

*always be kind

*keep each other safe

*always try your best

We are on to yet another fantastic topic ‘Oliver’s Vegetables’ and have thoroughly enjoyed learning new facts, alongside new skills across the curriculum.  Oliver’s Vegetables has been an engaging topic; offering many openings for great discussions around our own likes and dislikes. We are pleased to say we are a very healthy class indeed! We have started to grow our own cress. Look through our window and see if you can spot it!

In Maths we have started to learn about multiplication. We have grown in confidence when counting in 2s, 5s and 10s and have used this to solve problems using arrays. We challenge you to quiz us at home to see just how good we are. We have continued to deepen our understanding with addition and subtraction and have even be great detectives when it comes to problem solving too!

In English we have looked at persuasive letters and posters. We used the features we had found in a good example of a persuasive letter to write our own. We ensured we used as many features in our own writing to make sure Oliver ate his vegetables and knew the benefits of them! We hope we were persuasive enough to stop him eating too many chips!

On top of all of this, we have been looking at the artist Georgia O’Keeffe and creating our own flower pictures using the spreading technique and water colours. We have started our unit on ‘games’ during PE and have had great fun developing our skills. In science we have been looking at different weeds and plants and have thoroughly enjoyed using the outside to explore them and the key parts.

The adults in Deer class believe that communication is the key to success. If you have any worries or information that you would like to share with us then please speak to one of us at the classroom door or drop us an email:

As you can imagine, we have been very busy and are looking forward to next term and all the exciting learning opportunities that are to come!
