    Our Curriculum

At the heart of our curriculum is the belief that every child can succeed when new learning is carefully connected to what they already know and can do. From the moment children join us in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), we provide a broad, ambitious and inclusive curriculum that develops knowledge, skills and understanding progressively over time. The EYFS framework emphasises the importance of building on children's existing experiences, interests and developmental stages, ensuring that learning is meaningful and purposeful.

Our curriculum is thoughtfully sequenced from EYFS through to Year 2, ensuring that knowledge and skills are revisited, strengthened and applied in increasingly challenging contexts. We recognise that learning is most effective when children make links between prior learning and new concepts. Teachers carefully identify what pupils already know, understand and can do, before introducing new knowledge. This approach helps children to develop secure understanding, deepen their learning and retain important knowledge over time.

In the Early Years, learning is rooted in play, exploration and rich first-hand experiences. Strong foundations are established through the Prime and Specific Areas of Learning, preparing children for the transition into Key Stage 1. As pupils move through the school, the National Curriculum builds upon these foundations, enabling them to develop as confident readers, writers, mathematicians, scientists, artists, historians, geographers and active citizens.

Our curriculum is designed to be coherent and progressive, with each subject carefully mapped to ensure that key knowledge and vocabulary are introduced, revisited and embedded. By making explicit connections between previous learning and new learning, we help pupils develop a deeper understanding of the world around them and equip them with the knowledge, skills and attitudes they need for future learning and later life. The National Curriculum expects schools to provide a broad and balanced curriculum that prepares pupils for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of later life, and our curriculum has been designed with this aim at its core. Please look at the attachments within this section to read more and see what learning our children are having.

Through high expectations, carefully planned progression and a commitment to building strong foundations, we ensure that every child develops the confidence, resilience and curiosity needed to become a successful lifelong learner as we grow and learn together.
